Why did you decide to follow your career path?

Science (especially biology) was one of my favourite subjects when I was at school. When I was looking at courses at university, Biomedical Science seemed really interesting to me and there were a lot of different job options you could do at the end of the course. However, I ended up with a funded place through a trainee job I applied for after I finished my A levels so I could learn and work at the same time!

What are the three best bits about your job?

I work as part of a large team including: laboratory assistants, other scientists, doctors and nurses.

There is always something new to learn.

I can make a difference to people’s health and the treatment they might receive when they are unwell.

What advice would you give to anyone thinking about a similar career?

You have to be willing to work hard and be good at making quick decisions. An interest in science also helps!
